Syracuse can boast that it owns and operates two nine hole, par 3 golf courses within the city parks system. Both Burnet and Sunnycrest Golf Courses offers great views of the city, minimal fees and opportunities for the beginning or scratch golfer; from youths to seniors. The courses open from May 1st to October 15th, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Private and group lessons are available at Burnet Park Golf Course by appointment. ½ Hour Lessons - $25.00; Full Hour Lessons - $40.00; Series of Five Lessons- $100.00. Please call: 315-487-6285

  • LEAGUES
    Mixed Senior Leagues
    Mixed Senior leagues are offered at both Sunnycrest and Burnet Park Golf Course.  The leagues are for both men and women over the age of (55) fifty-five.  Each league plays on Tuesday mornings from early May until August.  Participants are treated to free PGA clinics each month and have exclusive rights to the course.  Mixed League members are treated to a full breakfast to help “kick-off” the year, as well as an awards luncheon and an end of the year tournament.

    The Mary Anne Kotas Women’s League

    The Mary Anne Kotas Women’s League takes place on Thursday mornings at Sunnycrestbeginning May 10th until August. The “women’s only” league was named in honor of the city’s past golf director. Several in season events such as closest to the pins, low clubs, etc.. help make this the city’s most popular league. Participants are treated to free PGA clinics each month and have exclusive rights to the course.  MAK Women’s League members are treated to a full breakfast to help “kick-off” the year, as well as an awards luncheon and an end of the year tournament.

    Junior Leagues

    Junior Leagues are offered at both Sunnycrest and Burnet Park Golf Course beginning in early July. League play is open for boys and girls ages 8-17.  The Sunnycrest League takes place on Monday’s while the Burnet Park League runs on Wednesday’s.  Each participant will have a set tee time between 11:00am - 2:00pm and play with his or her same group each week.  League members have exclusive rights to the course and are treated to pizza party and end of the year tournament. The leagues are a partnership with The First Tee of Syracuse.

    Twilight Leagues
    Take advantage of the city’s Twilight Leagues starting in June, available weeknights at each golf course.  Round up your friends, co-workers, and business associates and spend a weeknight at one of the courses.  Reserve a night and operate your own league or join on of three city run leagues: Wednesday Women’s, Thursday Best Ball or Friday Couples.  The city’s close proximity to Restaurants, Bars and other Downtown locations make them an ideal spot to start an enjoyable night.   
  • CLINICS
    Senior Golf Clinics
    On the first Wednesday of each month the city’s more “experienced” golfers are treated to a hands on instructional clinic with members of the CNYPGA.  The clinic covers the basic swing technique, putting and short game.  The clinics are free but require a $5.00 deposit.  Registration is limited to 30 participants and is first come first served.  Priority will be given to league and/or course members.

    USGA Junior Golf Academy
    The City of Syracuse will present it’s Annual Junior Golf Academy run by the Central New York Professional Golf Association. Participants will learn many aspects of the game, including etiquette, grip and swing techniques. The Program includes breakfast and lunch. All participants must reside in the City of Syracuse and there is a non-refundable $25 fee. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.  All participants MUST reside in the City of Syracuse and be 8-16 years of age. CLICK HERE to register.


    The Special Olympics Fall Golf Academy 
    The Special Olympics Golf skills program is designed for people with mental retardation who may, or may not, exhibit any number of physical impairments.  The ultimate goal of this program is to impart to the athletes’ basic golf skills, acceptable social behaviors and fundamental knowledge of the rules, enabling each athlete to participate in a regulation or modified game of golf.  The clinics are run in partnership with the Onondaga County Special Olympics – Area 16.
