Youth Basketball Programs – SUMMER 2012


Syracuse loves its Hoops!  And the Parks Department is pleased to offer a number of instructional and competitive basketball programs for youth of all ages and abilities!  Camps, clinics and leagues are offered year-round, so be sure to check back often! 

SUMMER JR A.C.T.I.O.N. Basketball Leauge
(Activities Central To Improving Our Neighborhoods)

Annual summer league provides an opportunity for local youth to play with and compete against some of the best 13-15 year-olds in Central New York. All registered participants will be drafted to one of up to 10 teams, led by experienced coaches. Teams play one game per week for 7 weeks. Registration fee includes games, officials, and t-shirt. Competitive League!

GAME NIGHTS: THURSDAYS, Beginning June 14th, 2012
TIMES:
5 games scheduled each night, from 5:30pm - 9:30pm
LOCATION:
Magnarelli Center at McChesney Park (Grant Blvd at Pond St)
Ages: 13 - 15 yrs (may not turn 16 before August 7)                                                                                         
Fee: 
$20 per player, City Resident // $40 per Non-City Resident
 
TO REGISTER: 
Pre-register by completing a Camp/Clinic registration form (available HERE) and returning, with payment, to the Parks Department (412 Spencer Street, Syraucse, NY 13204….

OR, Register in person on Thursday MAY 31st at McChesney...from 6PM - 7PM, as space allows.
Limit: 100 youth


GAME SCHEDULES: Registered Players… please check  the ROSTER SHEET to find your Team Number…then check the League SCHEDULE to find the time of your first game.

Magnarelli Recreation Center at McChesney Park is once again home to some of the most exciting and competitive summer basketball in all of Central New York. Watch top City and County high school teams from across the region battle it out for the coveted SUMMER A.C.T.I.O.N. League Title.

Varsity Boys Division: Monday and Wednesday evenings,Games scheduled for 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm

Varisty Girls Division: Tuesday evenings, Games at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm

Championship Night for ALL Divisions: August 7, 2012

BASKETBALL SUMMER CAMP 2012

Open to Boys and Girls...this long running camp will include daily drills designed to improve skills in the critical aspects of the game: passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding and defending. The camp typically features drills in the morning, with games in the afternoon.

DATES: Monday - Friday, JULY 16 - 20, 2012
HOURS: 10:00am - 3:00pm, daily
AGES: 8 - 13 years
LOCATION:Henninger High School / Syunnycrest Park
DIRECTOR: Dennis Bardenett

CITY PARKS YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAM (with the Northeast Community Center)

Syracuse Parks and Recreation links up with the Syracuse Northeast Community Center for our annual winter basketball program. Several weeks of clinics and instruction are followed by league play. Games are played at the Magnarelli Recreation Center at McChesney Park (Grant Blvd)!

Fee: $10 per player, $20 max per family.
Game Days:
8-under: Play on Thursday evenings
9-10 yr olds: Play on Saturday mornings
