6 Races / 10 City Neighborhoods / 29.2 Total Miles / Hundreds of acres of parks |
SYRATHON returns in 2010! The City’s Department of Parks and Recreation, with Fleet Feet Sports, The Syracuse New Times, and Brooks Sports, are again proud to offer this unique series of now SIX road races through our city’s parks system, and along charming city streets. The Series is designed to encourage healthful physical activity year-round…all while promoting the sights and sounds of city life!
We’ve added a new race this year, but the challenge remains the same…to run your own, personal marathon within the City of Syracuse. Five of the series races showcase distinct neighborhoods and city parks…true hidden gems…and feature some of the most lovely homes, scenic vistas, and historic markers in the area. A sixth race…the Mountain Goat…hits them all (at least it feels like it after 10 miles!)
Syrathon 2010 is made possible by the support of its generous sponsors, and, of course, the tremendous efforts of the individual race committees. Each of Series races are well-established because of the hard work and creative, thoughtful planning of individual race committee. Each race has it’s own flavor, and the dedication of all race volunteers brings great benefit to respective city neighborhoods and to so many charitable causes.
The Challenge
Become a Syrathoner… Run them all…Complete your 26.2 miles (and then some) over the course of the 6-race schedule… all while benefiting local neighborhood associations and other charitable causes.
Complete at least 4 of the 6 races to become eligible for a Syrathon 2010 Technical Race Shirt. Other great prizes, including Brooks Running Shoes, gift certificates, and even a Flat Screen TV will be awarded through random prize drawings.
Remember…this Series challenge is “participation-based”…which means there are no times to keep track of; no placements to worry about. Just get out there, take it at your own pace, and have fun!
