    Syracuse Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with District 8 Little League and serve as "home base" to several Little League Baseball Organizations. Each organization is lead by dedicated volunteers eager to teach the game of baseball to city youth. The City Parks Department maintains the fields and provides logistical support, while the individual Little League organizations manage the registration process and conduct all League programming, under the auspices of District 8 Little League.     Syracuse RBI... Reviving Baseball In Inner Cities.  Syracuse Parks is also a proud partner with Syracuse RBI!  Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI), sponsored by Major League Baseball, is a program designed to increase interest and participation in baseball and softball among our city's youth. The program instills the values of teamwork, respect, diversity, promise, effort, and integrity.     Syracuse loves its Hoops! The Parks Department is please to offer a number of instructional and competitive basketball programs for youth of all ages and abilities... camps, clinics, and leagues are offered year-round, so be sure to check back here often, for detailed information regarding our programs.

     Running  [Top]

    • The Ready, Set, Run! Program: The Syracuse Parks Department in collaboration with Crouse Hospital and the YMCA, with funding from the Jim & Juli Boheim Foundation offered  this program from July - September and consisted of  running lessons 3x's a week (during the summer and after school programs). The 2016 Spring program concluded with a 3K Fitness Run during Paiges Butterfly Run! Each lesson included: Proper running techniques, Health Education Tips and Incentives (water bottles, head bands, sunglasses etc). Check back for future run programs!

    Skiing  [Top]
    Cross Country Skiing at Sunnycrest Park...Did you know that Sunnycrest Park is home to more than 2.5 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails?  When enough snow blankets the park, the trails bring skiers along a loop that includes Sunnycrest golf course and some wooded areas.  Great exercise for the entire family! Trails are maintained by the City of Syracuse Parks Department. Trails start at the Sunnycrest Ski Lodge (Hickok Ave entrance). Parking is available at the Ski Lodge and Ice Rink. Skiing is available December to March, snow conditions permitting. Snowshoeing is also encouraged! For more information or to verify the Lodge is open please call (315) 473-2674  (Ski Lodge).  Trail Hours: Trails open 7 days a week dawn to dusk, weather and conditions permitting 

    Soccer  [Top]

    Saturday Soccer at Burnet Park...Burnet Park will host *FREE* Saturday Morning Soccer Clinics for the entire Syracuse community. This will be a five week Clinic and will start this Saturday, Sept. 30th thru Oct. 28th. The clinic will be hosted by Ronny Febres of the Syracuse Soccer Academy. Ronny, along with staff from Syracuse Parks and Recreation, will be demonstrating a number of skill and drills for ages 5 - 10 yrs. old. The ages will be broken down into two sessions. Ages 5 - 7 yrs. old will participate in the first session from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. Ages 8 - 10 yrs. old will participate in the second session from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Registration will take place inside the Burnet Park Sports Complex ( Ice Rink). Please come at least a half hour earlier before the start of the session to register. 

    Soccer for Success...Soccer for Success is a free out-of-school time program developed and sponsored by the U.S. Soccer Foundation. It is designed to introduce youth ages 6-14 to the sport of soccer, while also providing them and their families with the tools they need to make healthy lifestyle decisions.  This program offers sessions in both the Fall and Spring, and generally meets twice per week for instruction, and once for scrimmage games.    Fall program runs 9/25/17 - 11/24/17. Register onsite.  Fall 2017 locations below: 

    • Wilson Park Community Center:  Monday, Tuesday and Thursday  from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • Northeast Community Center: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    • Ed Smith After School Program at Levy School: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Schiller Park Community Center: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Burnet Park Sports Complex: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    City-based Youth Soccer Organizations: The City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation also maintains and permits soccer fields throughout the City of Syracuse that serve as home to several local Youth Soccer Organizations. Below are links to a few of Syracuse's long-standing soccer programs run by outside groups/agencies.     • Eastside Soccer: recreational leagues (Fall and Spring) for children in grades K-8. Games played at Barry Park. For information, click HERE

    • Eastwood Youth Soccer : typically offers Spring leagues for children in grades K-8 at  Sunnycrest Park. For more information, click HERE.

    For more than eight years, the City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Central New York Tennis Association (CNYTA) to provide local residents with high quality, low cost tennis programming on city tennis courts. And, the City is proud to be a Tennis In The Parks community! Tennis in the Parks, a national partnership between the United States Tennis Association and the National Recreation and Parks Association, provides local municipalities with guidance and support vital to growing the sport of tennis across the country. 
    Tennis in the Parks Programs conducted by the Parks Department and CNYTA are the perfect way to introduce your child to this wonderful sport... one that can truly be enjoyed for a LIFETIME!
