    Welcome to Syracuse Parks, Recreation and Youth Program’s Virtual Recreation Center!   

    While we may not be able to spend time  together with you in physical buildings or neighborhood parks during this difficult time, our hope is that we can stay connected virtually.  The links below can quickly connect you to great resources and programs from a variety of sources, including the Syracuse Parks Department, other local agencies, and beyond!  Check back often, as new activities may be added during the summer.

    Summer Programs For Youth with Syracuse Parks and Recreation, or made possible by our partners. Register today! 

    • Mobile Rec To Go! Syracuse Parks staff will visit City neighborhoods each week with cool crafts, active game demonstrations, and other activities to take home, plus a healthy snack! Activity themes will change each week. Registration is required for each  location.  Online or phone-in registration will open each FRIDAY.  Be sure to check back each week.  Register your child for up to one visit per week.  Made possible by the Syracuse Parks Conservancy and their wonderful supporters. FREE!

      Dates: June 29 - August 21
      When: Monday - Thursday; 2 stops per day:  11:00 am and 1:00 pm
      Ages: 6 - 13
      Limit: 25 per site
      To Register for a stop:, or call 315-473-4330 (Mon-Fri 8am - 4pm).  Registration will open again each Friday for all visits scheduled for the following week. Registration will remain open for each stop until all activity kits are reserved.  Registration for Week 1 begins June 26th
    •    Painting In the Parks!  The Parks Department will be hosting family-style painting sessions in city parks on Fridays this Summer! Syracuse Police Officer Nikki Hendrix lead the interactive art sessions in neighborhood parks for youth and families. After each session your child will have a piece of art to take home that they have created themselves, together with family members! Space is limited and registration is necessary. Please note, painting projects are designed for youth ages 8 - 14.  Made possible by the Syracuse Parks Conservancy and their wonderful supporters. FREE!

      Limit: 14 youth per site (one canvas will be provided to each registered youth)

    • Power Scholars with the YMCA FREE!  This daily program would typically take place in several parks as part of our Summer program, but is now VIRTUAL in 2020.   Power Scholars Academy TM is a partnership between the Y and the national nonprofit BellXcel.  It is a five-week summer program designed to not only tackle summer learning loss in math and reading, but to also foster physical and social-emotional growth. The summer learning program is designed to ensure scholars do not lose academic skills over the summer as well as enhance overall social-emotional development.

      When:  Daily virtual sessions with Y Educators - Meeting times will be flexible based on family needs!

    • Fitness Friday Workouts - On Demand!  Each Friday, we will post a new video, led by one of your favorite Parks instructors on location in one of our beautiful parks. Try a circuit workout, yoga, zumba, dance, and more!  Follow along with the workout wherever you are. Brought to you by the Syracuse Parks Conservancy.

    • Syracuse Teen Leadership Program with Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H :   For seven weeks, we will be exploring leadership, planning our goals, and learning more about ourselves. The group meets online every Tuesday from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. FREE!
      Dates: Tuesdays July 14 - August 25
      When:  Weekly virtual Zoom sessions with 4-H educators. Meets Tuesdays 4:00pm - 5:00pm
      Ages: 11 – 18 yrs

    • *Virtual* Family Health Walk and Talks with SUNY Upstate Pediatrics. FREE!  Now virtual, this family health and community empowerment program will continue to bring together families with local pediatricians for physical activity, important health information, and free access to local farm-fresh produce!  Traditionally, we would meet and walk in a local park.  Due to COVID, our “talks” will now be virtual, with 1-hour weekly summer webinars that may include guided exercise, Q&A regarding health care questions, and ongoing community needs assessments.  Parents are encouraged to walk with family on their own, and send weekly walking logs. Great incentives along the way.  Join today!

      When: Tuesdays, 6pm: Virtual Zoom  with Pediatricians and Parks staff
      Daily: Walk together with household family members and complete a weekly log (provided)

    • Monday Mile Passport Challenge   Did you know there are more than a dozen accessible Monday Mile Walking Routes posted in parks and neighborhoods throughout the city?  And even more throughout the County! This challenge encourages household members to explore the City together, while getting great physical activity, one mile at a time.  Access the Monday Mile Passport HERE and start your “journey” today.  Complete 13 miles and earn great prizes!   Please observe all health and safety related guidelines and observe social distancing.  Monday Mile and Healthy Mondays are programs of the Lerner Center of Public Health at Syracuse University!

    More Summer Camp Opportunities Although the long-running City Parks Summer Camp program will not be held this summer, some of our traditional camp partners will be offering programming.  Please contact the organization directly for more information on content, registration, and fees.

    • Redhouse Performing Arts Center will be offering both Theater Camp and Rock Camp during Summer of 2020, with both in-person and virtual options!  Scholarship assistance may be available...please contact the Redhouse for more information!  Visit for more information.
    • M.O.S.T. While the MOST is still closed to the public, we are open EVERY week this summer for day camps. These three different themed fun filled science education camps are for ages 4-15 with a child care option after camp. Camps are being run in small groups led by science educators and with every health and sanitation measure that we can ensure. Visit for more information.  
    • Everson Museum of Art will be offering Everson Creativity Kids this Summer! Cultivate your child’s creativity with Everson Creativity Kits. These take-home kits have been specially designed by our amazing Museum Educators to encourage your young artist to create original works of art inspired by the Everson Museum and its collections. Lessons encourage children to explore a variety of art media including drawing, painting, sculpture, and so much more. Themes focus on contemporary arts, artists, and ideas. Kits include a sketch pad, child sized apron, seven age appropriate art-making lessons with easy to follow instructions and all of the materials and tools needed to complete each activity. Create your own home art display and share photos of your creations to be included in a virtual art show to celebrate and share the work of your budding young artist. For more information: 
    • YMCA of Greater Syracuse Although the traditional “College For Kids” camp will not be occurring this Summer, YMCA at OCC (Southwest Branch) will be offering a daily program called “Camp Southwest”.  Visit for more information!
